Countries in Central and Eastern Europe are already integrated into many research partnerships with Bavarian universities and colleges. In contrast, the cooperation between Bavaria and exchange with numerous countries in Southeastern Europe is much less prominent. BAYHOST wants to give young scientists and students an opportunity to become acquainted with the culture of various science regions in Eastern Europe. We wish to identify promising opportunities of research cooperation and support on both sides in establishing contacts. Young scientists will have a chance to meet potential research partners and institutions. Students can gain practical insights into potential fields of work. Apart from universities and colleges the field trip includes visits to non-academic research institutions, non-governmental organizations and companies.
BAYHOST facilitates communication between science and business sectors. The goal of exchange forums is to allow the business sector benefit from numerous academic contacts in Eastern Europe. Topics include international study courses and research projects in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, as well as technology transfer and cooperation possibilities. During other exchange forums, visiting professors from abroad and their German colleagues, as well as representatives from international student offices and research departments, discuss how international cooperation can be improved and current issues resolved. The aim is to create a favourable environment for cooperation in research and teaching.
Apart from language classes and studies abroad, internships represent a good opportunity to promote international relations and to obtain further qualifications. Together with international student offices and internship services at Bavarian universities BAYHOST supports students who would like to do an internship in Central, Eastern or Southeastern Europe. We offer the same services to students from Eastern Europe who would like to do an internship in Bavaria.
